The Reverend Jack R. Whritenour (b. February 25, 1971) has
been serving as pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Shelton,
Connecticut since August of 2003. Pastor Whritenour was born
and raised in Northern New Jersey, and attended the College of
New Jersey (formerly Trenton State College) from which he
graduated Cum Laude earning a bachelors degree in Music
Education in 1993.  It was there that he met his wife Carol whom
he married in July of 1996. From the College of New Jersey, he
went on to study at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at
Philadelphia from which he graduated in May of 1998 with the
degree of Master of Divinity.  On June 14, 1998, he was ordained
by Bishop E. LeRoy Riley of the New Jersey Synod, and shortly
thereafter began serving as pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church,
Sidman, Pennsylvania in the Allegheny Synod until being called to
serve Trinity, Shelton.
Rev. Jack R. Whritenour
Pastor Whritenour's great loves are Christian Liturgy and Reformation History; this usually becomes evident very quickly to
anyone who attends worship at Trinity and participates in his Sunday Adult Christian Education Forum and Bible Studies.
One of his core convictions is that Christians need to know what they believe and why in order to serve effectively in the
Church, to be faithful in living the Christian life, and to be able to share their faith with others.  He is a 'confessional' Lutheran
pastor, which means that he is deeply committed to fidelity to the Augsburg Confession and the other 16th Century Lutheran
Confessions which are found in the Book of Concord.  He is also concerned with preserving the Evangelical Lutheran Liturgy
(which is the Mass of the Western Church reformed in order to allow the Church's liturgy to more clearly set forth the saving
Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Holy Sacraments, and to involve the whole people of God in worship) which is a great treasure
inherited from Apostolic times and enriched by the devotional contributions of God's holy people from every generation. He is
an active member of the Society of the Holy Trinity, a group of devoted Lutheran pastors who live by a common rule of life
and who gather regularly in retreat for prayer, worship, pastoral conversation, individual confession and absolution, and
theological education.

In addition to being a pastor, he is also a skilled musician who plays the organ, harpsichord, and piano, and has composed
several sacred musical works, some of which have been published professionally.
